WHO IS BILL?
Bill Pezzimenti (Biasino William) has spent a lifetime observing people.
From more than five decades in television and radio to international business, travel and a life shaped by communication, Bill has long been fascinated by human behaviour: what drives us, divides us, connects us and ultimately makes us who we are.
That curiosity has found expression through poetry, books, satire and storytelling. His book, Facing The Monkey’s Grin, brings together his distinctive observations on life and human nature, but Bill’s words have also travelled far beyond the printed page.
During his years in US radio, Bill wrote and voiced Leave It to Teddy, an irreverent topical parody of the classic American sitcom Leave It to Beaver, revealing an early expression of the satire and humour that would continue through his writing.
His early poem Still Life later found another life as a song, recorded by American folk singer-songwriter Nancy Lee Baxter and released through New York’s influential Fast Folk musical community in 1982. The recording now forms part of the Smithsonian Folkways archive.
His writing has also moved into film and opera. Bill is the librettist and co-creator of Shaped by Trees, a contemporary film opera developed with internationally acclaimed composer and director Constantine Koukias. Exploring love, memory, ageing and the shifting boundaries between what is real and imagined, the work is currently in pre-production with Foundation IHOS Amsterdam.
Today, Bill continues to write poetry, prose and reflections drawn from a lifetime of observing the fascinating contradictions of being human.

Why Poetry?
We live in a world that rarely pauses.
We move quickly. We skim. We scroll. We rush from one thought to the next, often missing the quiet moments that reveal the most.
Poetry asks something different of us.
It invites us to slow down. To notice. To question. To laugh. To grieve. To remember. To recognise ourselves in strangers, and strangers in ourselves.
For me, poetry has never been about providing answers. It has always been about observing life with honesty, curiosity and compassion—and asking better questions along the way.
If a poem encourages you to pause for just a moment, to see the world a little differently, then it has done its job.
A CAREER BUILT ON COMMUNICATION
Before becoming recognised for his poetry, Bill Pezzimenti built a distinguished international career spanning more than three decades across television, radio and print media.
Renowned for combining creative thinking with strategic insight, Bill specialised in sales leadership, communication and business development, building high-performing sales and marketing teams across diverse cultures and markets. His work took him throughout Australia, Brazil, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States and Japan, giving him a unique perspective on people, leadership and the universal threads that connect us.
A respected sales trainer and communicator, Bill empowered executives worldwide with practical skills in selling, presentation and relationship building. He later completed a Master's degree in International Relations at the University of Technology Sydney, further expanding his understanding of global affairs, culture and human behaviour.
Born in Melbourne and raised in Buffalo, New York, Bill now divides his time between Sydney and Tasmania, where he continues to write, reflect and observe the world around him. The experiences gained throughout his career continue to shape both his poetry and his prose, giving his writing a perspective forged through decades of working with people from all walks of life.
Those experiences also inspired his first published book, Facing the Monkey's Grin, a thought-provoking exploration of leadership, workplace culture and the complexities of being human. Drawing on a lifetime spent observing people in business, the book looks beyond office politics and sales to examine the behaviours, motivations and relationships that define us all.
